When We Play

The bowls season runs from late April to the end of September. Petts Wood is open Monday – Friday afternoons, two mornings in the week, and all day at Weekends.

Members can just turn up at 2.00 PM for roll-ups on certain days and be sure to get a game as follows:

  • Men’s Roll-up Monday afternoons,
  • Mixed Roll-up Thursday afternoons
  • Ladies' Umbrella Competition Friday afternoons

We have a combined total of over 100 friendly Ladies', Men's and Mixed matches against clubs in Bromley and neighbouring boroughs throughout the season, normally on Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday afternoons. There is a strong ethos at our club that every member is given a fair chance of playing in the friendly matches where they have put their names down for selection.

We also have day trips each year to play against clubs at Eastbourne, New Romney and Whitstable.

Competitive Bowls

Petts Wood BC runs its own internal competitions with a Finals Weekend in late August / early September.

We also have two Ladies' and three Men's teams made up of our more experienced and skilled bowlers playing in the North West Kent Bowls Leagues as well as some members taking part in Kent County and National competition.

Cost of Playing

For 2024 our subscription for renewals and new members is £150.  This is reduced on a pro rata basis for new bowlers for their first season at the discretion of the Management Committee.

For junior members the subscription is £20 and associates £10.

Unlike some other clubs in the London Borough of Bromley there is no game / match fee each time you play.

New members starting bowls will need to wear flat soled bowls shoes and wear black/grey trousers / skirts and white shirts / blouses. They will be able to borrow sets of bowls but when they would like to purchase their own bowls the club coaches can give them advice on the size of bowls and where new or second-hand bowls can be purchased.
